The Sunphlore variety was obtained by selecting promising seedlings from the maternal line N185 and the paternal line 2N33. The plant is propagated vegetatively and was initially intended for greenhouse pot cultivation.
The appearance of the plant is characterized by the red color of the flowers, which is reflected in its trade name Astoria Red. In a number of official registries, the status of this variety is currently listed as discontinued.
