The plant is a breeding mutation of the variety Burgundy. The leaves, approximately 6 cm wide, have a dark gray-purple upper side and a silvery-gray underside.
The variety is winter hardy down to –7…–9°C; foliage damage is possible during more severe frosts. Used in landscape design as an architectural form for accentuating water features and edging borders.
