UCB1 is an interspecific hybrid obtained by crossing a female Pistacia atlantica and a male Pistacia integerrima. This plant is not intended for commercial nut production and serves exclusively as a rootstock for Pistacia vera.
This rootstock possesses high growth vigor, promotes earlier onset of fruiting in grafted trees, and ensures high uniformity of plantations. It is characterized by high resistance to Verticillium wilt, Phytophthora, nematodes, and also tolerates soil salinity and cold climatic conditions.
Propagation of the rootstock is carried out in two ways: by seed, through controlled cross-pollination, and clonally, using micropropagation technology. When using clonal lines, the manifestation of bushy top syndrome is sometimes noted.
