The variety is a compact evergreen shrub reaching about 1 meter in height and width; dwarf forms of about 45 cm also exist. The plant has glaucous evergreen leaves.
The flowers are purple or pink-violet, resembling the flowers of sweet pea in appearance. The variety is profusely flowering and often blooms throughout the year.
The plant is intended for ornamental cultivation in gardens and containers. The variety is thermophilic, tolerates temperature drops down to -6°C, and requires well-drained soils and a sunny location.
