The plant belongs to the species Prosthechea cochleata, which is valued in cultivation for the unusual shape of its flowers, resembling a seashell, and their long flowering period. The flowers of the species are usually non-resupinate, greenish-yellow in color with a dark purple lip.
Plants of this species reach a height of 15 to 60 cm, form pseudobulbs, and have leathery leaves. The variety is intended for cultivation in indoor or greenhouse conditions.
