Variety description

10 August 2026

Piku 1 is a three-species hybrid used exclusively as a dwarfing clonal rootstock. The rootstock restricts the growth of grafted trees by approximately 30% compared to traditional seedlings, ensuring good compactness and high yield, while accelerating the onset of fruit bearing by 1–3 years.

The plant possesses high resistance to winter frosts and good anchorage, which allows it to be used on various soil types. In the nursery, it exhibits an upright growth habit with moderate branching, and its leaves have a characteristic feature — edges curling inward. It is propagated by green cuttings or through tissue culture.
