The Ishtara rootstock is an interspecific hybrid of the Prunus group. It provides moderate vigor, reducing the size of grafted trees by 15–25% compared to cherry plum seedlings. It adapts well to various soil types, while demonstrating high productivity and a positive effect on fruit size and quality.
The root system of the rootstock may be insufficiently developed to support the tree, which often requires the installation of support structures. The plant shows resistance to certain types of nematodes, but is sensitive to bacterial canker and infection by the fungus Armillaria. It is characterized by good propagation ability via cuttings and produces practically no root suckers.
