The rootstock contributes to a reduction in tree size by 40–60% compared to seedling rootstocks, ensuring a height in the orchard of 2.5–3 m. Grafted plants enter into fruiting in the 2–3 year and maintain productivity for 15–18 years. It is used in intensive orchards with a planting density of 800–1000 trees per hectare.
The root system of the rootstock is characterized by high winter hardiness (down to -12...-14 °C), drought tolerance, and adaptability to heavy and waterlogged soils. The rootstock exhibits resistance to Verticillium wilt, bacteriosis, nematodes, Coccomyces hiemalis, and Stigmina carpophila. In case of mechanical damage, it is capable of producing suckers; it is sensitive to a number of viruses.
It is compatible with most varieties of sweet cherry and sour cherry, although there are known cases of selective incompatibility with some sour cherry varieties, leading to breakage at the graft union.
