The variety was bred in the state of New Jersey and is presumably a seedling of the Rio-Oso-Gem variety. The harvest period falls between September 1 and September 6.
The fruits are large, firm, and oval-shaped with a pronounced suture. The skin is colored red on 20–40% of the total surface. The yield of the variety is unstable; in years with a dry summer, double fruits often form on the trees. The variety is susceptible to bacterial infections, in particular, bacterial spot.
