The Dhprs2 variety is used exclusively as a rootstock for stone fruit crops. It was bred as a specialized solution to improve the characteristics of grafted varieties, facilitating the production of high yields of large fruits.
A key feature of the rootstock is its resistance to Plum pox virus. The plant exhibits a hypersensitive reaction to this pathogen, which makes it possible to limit its spread in plantations.
