The Korlaper variety was introduced in 1994 by the originator W. Kordes' Söhne. In the official classification, it is defined as a cut rose characterized by the presence of long-lasting stems.

In sources, there is often confusion between the Korlaper variety (Floribunda) and the hybrid tea rose Korpenparo, which also has the trade name La Perla. Information regarding the specific disease resistance of the Korlaper variety is absent from open registries.
