The Speruge variety, also known as Red Dagmar, is a hybrid of Rosa rugosa with a broad, spreading growth habit and a height of about 50 cm. The plant's shoots are densely covered in prickles, leaves are dense, glossy, dark green, turning a dark golden-yellow shade in autumn.
The flowers of the variety are single, 6–8 cm in size, bright red when opening, later turning to a purple-red color with contrasting yellow stamens. After flowering, almost round, shiny fruits with a diameter of up to 2.5 cm and an orange-red or red color are formed.
The variety is non-remontant; the main flowering period occurs in July and August. The plant is characterized by resistance to adverse conditions inherent to Rosa rugosa hybrids.
