The hybrid tea rose variety Varlon (also known as Ilona) belongs to large-flowered cut flower varieties. The plant possesses long, strong flower stalks and high productivity in greenhouse conditions.

The blood-red flowers have a double structure of 30–40 petals and reach 9–10 cm in diameter. The buds are distinguished by a rounded, pointed shape. The plant is characterized by tall growth.

During cultivation, sensitivity of the variety to the dieback of basal shoots was noted. The variety has often been used in scientific research related to the study of plant physiology, namely the influence of lighting conditions and temperature on flower quality and bud development.
