Variety V578 is the result of breeding at the Faculty of Forestry of the University of Zagreb and is a hybrid of Salix matsudana with an unknown partner. The plant is not a decorative tortuous willow (Tortured willow) and is not intended for landscape design.
In experimental plantings, the clone demonstrates above-average dry biomass production rates and excellent sprout-forming ability. The variety is characterized by high phenotypic stability and productivity consistency under plantation cultivation conditions.
