The plant is a hybrid of Salvia splendens and Salvia darcyi. It is a herbaceous perennial that is cultivated as an annual in cold climate conditions. The bush has a semi-spreading growth habit, characterized by vigorous development and aromatic green foliage with a soft texture.
Flowering continues from late spring until frost. The flowers have a bright red hue and are gathered in spike-like inflorescences, complemented by dark red or wine-burgundy calyces. The variety is suitable for landscaping borders, mass plantings, container growing, and cutting.
The variety is heat-loving, drought-tolerant after rooting, prefers full sun or partial shade and well-drained soils. To maintain abundant flowering, removal of faded inflorescences is recommended. In commerce, it may be found under the registration name Balsalromed.
