The plant is an upright bush with narrow gray-green leaves. The variety forms long, sturdy, and thin spike-like inflorescences of a deep blue-violet or lavender-blue shade. Unlike modern compact varieties, this cultivar is characterized by greater height.

The variety is grown as an annual or a tender perennial crop. Flowering continues throughout the summer until frost. The plant prefers sunny areas with fertile, well-drained soils and is suitable for use in flower beds, borders, and container plantings.
