The variety was obtained as a result of selecting a spontaneous mutation that allowed the plant to overcome the photoperiod dependence characteristic of tropical varieties. Due to this, the plants are capable of flowering and forming mature seeds in the climatic conditions of Europe during the long day period.
The yield of the variety can reach 1300 kg per hectare when following proper agronomic practices. The seeds are characterized by a content of about 16% protein, up to 34% dietary fiber, 18–20 g of omega-3 fatty acids per 100 g of product, and also possess high mucilaginous properties.
The variety is intended for commercial cultivation as an alternative crop in crop rotation. The production is aimed at health food markets and the food industry, where the seeds can also be used as an egg white substitute.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
