Perennial herbaceous plant with a compact and dense habit, reaching a height of 20–30 cm. The foliage is lanceolate in shape, green or grey-green in color, and is aromatic when crushed.

The violet-purple flowers are gathered in dense spike-like inflorescences. The flowering period begins in June and lasts until September, provided that wilted inflorescences are removed.

The plant belongs to USDA hardiness zones 4–9. The variety is resistant to lodging and does not require support, however, under unfavorable conditions it may be affected by powdery mildew, leaf spot, and rust.
