Variety description

10 August 2026

The plant belongs to the species Satureja douglasii (synonym Clinopodium douglasii). It forms long creeping shoots ranging from 20 cm to 1.5 meters in length, which allows for cultivation in hanging baskets or containers. The leaves are light green in color and have a specific aroma resembling mint when crushed.

The species is thermophilic and does not overwinter in open ground in temperate climates, requiring shelter or transfer indoors at a temperature of 10–15 °C. The plant is undemanding, though it requires regular watering. It is used for decorating balconies and terraces, as well as a raw material for tea and culinary purposes.
