The plant has a compact form and forms large funnel-shaped or bell-shaped flowers with a characteristic combination of red and white colors. The foliage is large, velvety to the touch. The height of adult specimens of the Sonata series usually varies within 20–30 cm.

The variety is intended for cultivation in protected ground as a potted crop. The plant is valued for the abundant formation of buds and a long flowering period, while requiring careful watering at the root to prevent rotting of vegetative parts.
