The variety is a representative of the species Solanum jasminoides (synonym Solanum laxum Spreng.). It is a climbing plant of the Solanaceae family originating from South America, which forms woody shoots 2 to 8 meters long, and sometimes up to 15 meters.
The plant has oval-lanceolate leaves and star-shaped flowers gathered in loose inflorescences. In mild climates, it is evergreen; in cold climates, it requires protection or indoor maintenance during the winter period. The plant uses its leaf petioles to grow by clinging to supports.
