The variety was obtained as a result of crossing the Indiana Baltimore and Rutgers varieties with the wild species Lycopersicon hirsutum. The plant's fruits have a characteristic orange-red shade and are distinguished by an increased concentration of provitamin A.
The variety is often considered a genetic resource for breeding aimed at increasing carotenoid content. Due to the specific features of its use as a functional product, precise parameters of the plant habit and disease resistance are presented to a limited extent in available publications.
