The plant has a sturdy, well-branched bush. Height varies from compact determinate forms to tall specimens reaching 150–200 cm. The fruits have a characteristic irregular round-flattened shape with pronounced ribbing. Upon ripening, they acquire a bright red color; the skin is thin and smooth.
The fruit flesh is compact, aromatic, with a small number of seeds. The Spagnoletta di Gaeta variety is characterized by a very early maturity group. The variety is traditionally used both for fresh consumption and for processing into sauces and tomato puree, although it is poorly suited for industrial cultivation.
