The Derica variety is a local tomato landrace widely cultivated in Nigeria. The plant is characterized by a determinant growth type and large bush size.
Studies note the susceptibility of this variety to certain species of parasitic nematodes, including Trichodorus and Aphelenchoides spp. The variety name is also used as a trademark for canned tomatoes in Nigeria.
