The Furon variety was part of the De Ruiter Seeds portfolio and was mentioned in professional literature during the 1990s and early 2000s. The main characteristic of the hybrid is its genetic resistance to Fusarium crown and root rot, which was a significant breeding achievement at the time of its distribution.
The plant was intended for protected cultivation conditions. In scientific publications, the variety was also mentioned as a test subject in research on resistance to the pathogen Cladosporium fulvum, which causes leaf mold. Current technical specifications and descriptions of fruit appearance are absent in modern catalogs.
