The Jersey Devil variety is an indeterminate plant 1.5–1.8 m in height. Fruits are red, pepper-shaped, often with a curved tip, reaching lengths of up to 18 cm and a weight of 150–400 g. The flesh is dense and sweet; the variety is for universal use.
The term Jersey tomato is also used as a collective concept, often indicating the Rutgers variety. This is a determinate or semi-determinate variety with classic rounded red fruits weighing 150–230 g, possessing a balanced flavor and resistance to diseases.
