The Knockout F1 (VTO448) hybrid is a large-fruited beefsteak-type tomato. Its fruits reach a mass of 0.9 to 1.4 kg and have red flesh. The plant possesses resistance to Verticillium wilt (Va).
The term "knockout" is also widely applied in biological research to denote genetically modified tomato lines with "switched off" genes. Such lines are created to study resistance to viruses, changes in physicochemical fruit properties, and improvement of their keeping quality.
