Normanby is a hybrid material resulting from the interspecific crossing of Solanum lycopersicum L. and Solanum habrochaites S. Knapp & D.M. Spooner. This object is classified as a rootstock and is not intended for fruit production.

Agronomic traits, such as maturity group or fruit flavor, are not applicable to this rootstock. The main function of the plant is to be used as a root system for grafting tomatoes to increase resistance to soil-borne pathogens.
