The Red Pear variety from SAIS Sementi is an indeterminate plant with vigorous growth, suitable for greenhouses and open field. The fruits have a pear-shaped ribbed form and medium size, with the variety characterized by the presence of green shoulders at technical maturity. The variety possesses resistance to Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV).

Other varieties are also known under the name Red Pear, including the large-fruited Italian variety from Franchi Sementi with a weight of 200–500 g, used for sauces and salads, as well as heirloom cherry tomato varieties with a weight of 15–20 g. Contradictory descriptions are encountered in amateur sources, which is connected to the use of this name as a descriptor for the pear-like shape of the fruit.
