The Pusa Rubi variety is the most documented in agronomic research. The plant is often described as indeterminate, with determinate forms encountered less frequently. The variety is widely used in dryland farming conditions and is valued for qualities suitable for processing, and also possesses researched resistance to bacterial wilt and Fusarium.
The commercial variety Ruby Red refers to early-ripening determinate tomatoes 40–60 cm in height. Its fruits weigh 50–100 g and are suitable for fresh consumption and canning, which makes it suitable for cultivation in containers or in small plots.
Other variants include Indigo Rubin with anthocyanin fruit coloration and a semi-determinate plant type, as well as the indeterminate variety Dunavski Rubin with fruits weighing about 180 g and the green-fruited large-fruited variety Aunt Ruby's German Green.
