The Sam Remo F1 hybrid is characterized by high vigor, fruit weight of 250–300 g (up to 600 g), and a ribbed shape. The fruit color changes from light green to dark pink or red. The plant possesses resistance to tomato mosaic virus, verticillium wilt, fusarium wilt, nematodes, and spotted wilt virus. It is intended for cultivation in greenhouses and open field.
The heirloom variety Costoluto San Remo has a flattened, strongly ribbed fruit shape, with an average weight of about 170 g. The fruits have a specific taste, which is characterized as salty.
