The Russian heirloom variety is mid-season and indeterminate, reaching 1.6 m in height. The fruits are shaped like a large dark-pink plum with many ribs, resembling a tulip, weighing from 100 to 400 g. The flesh is dense with few seeds, the taste is sweet with a hint of acidity.

The variety «Толстяк из Патонеса» (Gordo de Patones) is an indeterminate plant up to 2 m tall. The fruits are oblate, pearl-pink or pink-red, weighing 300–400 g, with individual specimens reaching 1 kg. The plant is distinguished by good fruit set in heat conditions.

There is a hybrid «Толстяк F1», belonging to indeterminate mid-season plants with a vegetation period of 110–115 days, intended for training into 1–2 stems. Varieties are also registered under the name «Tolstiak» in breeding registers, however, their detailed descriptions often overlap with heirloom forms.
