Variety description

10 August 2026

Piennolo del Vesuvio tomatoes represent a group of heirloom varieties grown in the Campania region on volcanic soils in the area of Mount Vesuvius. These tomatoes possess DOP status, which confirms their geographical origin.

A characteristic feature of these fruits is their ability to be stored for a long time in a suspended state. The name piennolo comes from an Italian word meaning «hanging», as traditionally the harvest was tied into bunches for storage.
