The Viresto variety was used in scientific experiments to study resistance to viral diseases, including tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) and tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV). In comparative trials, lower susceptibility to tomato yellow leaf curl virus was noted in hybrids, including this variety.
In studies of physiological disorders, Viresto demonstrated high resistance to oedema, which occurs under high humidity and specific light regimes. Also, in 1982 field trials, the absence of nematode infestation on the roots of plants of this variety was recorded.
