The Vulcan F1 hybrid is a determinate tomato for the fresh market, characterized by firm fruits weighing 120–130 g and high yield. The plant possesses resistance to a complex of diseases, including Verticillium wilt, Fusarium wilt, nematodes, Tomato spotted wilt virus, and Tomato yellow leaf curl virus.

In historical literature of the mid-20th century, the "Vulcan" variety was mentioned as resistant to leaf mold. The name also appears in scientific publications where plant resistance to corky root rot caused by the pathogen Pyrenochaeta lycopersici was studied and fruit quality indicators were evaluated.
