Variety description
10 August 2026
The plant is a shrub or a small tree 1 to 3 meters in height. It is characterized by very large leaves up to 60 cm in diameter, which are dark green with purple veins. The stems and leaves are densely covered with short hairs and often have sharp purple prickles.
The fruits are round, orange when ripe, and about 5 cm in size. The pulp of the fruits is greenish and sour in taste. The plant is a heat-loving tropical crop, sensitive to frost and requiring specific light and humidity conditions.
In Europe, this plant is positioned as an ornamental container plant due to its appearance. The leaves and unripe fruits contain alkaloids, which requires caution when handling.
