The Aunis variety is classified as Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench subsp. bicolor. In open sources, information about its morphological traits, economic purpose, and origin is practically absent; the variety appears primarily in official EU agricultural crop catalogs.

In scientific literature, the variety is considered as a genotype susceptible to the maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV), which causes mosaic symptoms and leaf necrosis in seedlings. The variety is also used for maintaining and purifying strains of the Sorghum mosaic virus.
