Variety description
10 August 2026
The plant is a perennial with erect, thornless stems reaching a height of 60 to 150 cm and is characterized by purple flowering. The variety was bred as a medicinal crop and is traditionally used as an adaptogen and tonic.
The main economic trait of the variety is an increased concentration of 20-hydroxyecdysone in the roots. Due to this property, the roots of the Lujza variety are used in scientific research as reference material for the isolation of various chemical compounds, including vanillic and chlorogenic acids.
