The "Spun Gold" variety is an African marigold (Tagetes erecta L.), also known as the American or Aztec marigold. In breeding history, the variety is known for being used in 1962 along with the "Crackerjack" variety in the development of the "Aztec" series of varieties.

This variety belongs to a group of plants that can reach a height of up to 90 cm and are distinguished by the formation of large, double, spherical-shaped inflorescences. In ornamental gardening, it is used for landscaping flower beds, as well as for cut flowers and the production of garlands.
