The plant reaches 3.6 meters in height and 2.4 meters in width, characterized by slow growth. The needles are bright yellow in spring, turn grayish-green in summer, and green in autumn and winter. From late summer to autumn, it produces red fleshy arils.

The shrub is shade-tolerant, tolerates pruning well, and is suitable for forming topiary shapes or hedges. It prefers moderately moist soils without waterlogging and is suitable for cultivation in hardiness zones from 5-6 to 8. All parts of the plant, except for the fruit pulp, are toxic.
