The Retro variety is a spring triticale. The plant possesses genetically determined resistance to a number of pathogens; in particular, it contains the powdery mildew resistance genes Pm4b and Pm5.
This variety is intended for use as a grain crop. It is used for both feed purposes and in the food industry for the production of flour, starch, and alcohol due to its protein content and amino acid composition.
