The variety is a decorative perennial plant, often classified as Verbascum × cultorum. It is characterized by upright flower stalks covered in small flowers of a bluish-blue shade with yellow stamens. The plant's leaves form a basal rosette.
The plant reaches a height of about 75 cm. The flowering period falls in the summer months from July to September. The variety is relatively hardy to temperature drops down to -15°C, however, it may be susceptible to powdery mildew and mullein moth caterpillars. On fertile soils during active growth, supports may be required to prevent lodging.
