The plant has quadrangular stems covered with stiff hairs and oblong leaves with a serrated edge. Bush height is typically 30 to 60 cm. The variety Fialový is characterized by the purple color of the flowers collected in dense terminal inflorescences.
The species is able to withstand moderate winter temperatures down to -12 °C. The plant is undemanding, suitable for cultivation on various types of soil, and is widely used in landscape design, including urban greening, flower bed creation, and container planting.
