The variety is an annual plant, valued for the “paper” texture of its bracts, which retain their shape and color after drying. Flowering is accelerated by long daylight hours, although the plant can bloom regardless of photoperiod. More intense lighting and warm temperatures promote rapid development.

The plant is sensitive to temperature conditions: levels below 13°C slow growth and can lead to problems with the root system. The variety is susceptible to downy mildew (Bremia lactucae), the symptoms of which manifest as chlorotic spots on leaves, leaf curling, and the formation of a coating under poor ventilation.
