The plant is a perennial, reaching a height of 30–40 to 60 cm. It possesses bright yellow, lemon, or golden spathe-like flowers of a cup shape. The leaves have an ovate-cordate or sagittate shape and are often decorated with white spotting.

The variety is used as an ornamental crop for container cultivation, edging, or cutting. The plant prefers sunny locations or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. In temperate climates, it is not frost-hardy and requires lifting for the winter or covering.
