Perennial tuberous plant 50–80 cm tall. Leaves are arrowhead or heart-shaped, dark green, and covered with light speckles.

The inflorescence consists of a spadix and a funnel-shaped spathe of a deep dark purple color. The flowering period occurs from July to September.

The plant requires regular watering and moderate fertilization during the growing season. In regions with cold climates, tubers must be dug up for the winter and stored at a temperature of about +10 °C.
