There are ancient Native American varieties, such as Cherokee White Eagle and Cherokee Blue, which belong to landrace breeding. These plants reach a height of 1.8–2.5 m, and their maturity period is from 80 to 120 days. They are used for ornamental purposes, for flour production, or for consumption at the milk stage.

Sources also mention a sweet corn variety Cherokee with the code XP 1331, bred and supplied by the company Asgrow. Information regarding the registration of a corn variety named Cherokee by Novartis Seeds AG is absent.
