The LO951 line was obtained through self-pollination of the commercial hybrid Pioneer 3183. It is used as a parental form in the creation of mapping populations for genetic mapping and in plant diversity studies.
In literature, the subject is mentioned in the context of genetic research, including the mapping of resistance loci to pathogens, in particular to northern corn leaf blight. Characteristics inherent to commercial varieties are not determined for this line.
