The Rouge du Roc variety is a peasant selection that arose as a result of a spontaneous mutation in the field. It belongs to the category of varieties supported by biodiversity conservation networks and is considered public domain property.
Plant height during the flowering period is 120–150 cm. The variety has good growth vigor and drought tolerance, but is characterized by poor lodging resistance. Yield is estimated at 8–20 c/ha with fairly good plant uniformity.
