The hybrid was intended for commercial grain cultivation. During 1973 field trials in North Carolina, a yield of 148 bushels per acre was recorded. According to 1977 trial data in Tennessee, the yield was 124 bushels per acre at a grain moisture of 21.9%.
Morphological indicators of ear quality and husk coverage were rated at 3.0 on a scale of 1 to 9. Plant lodging resistance was 86%. The hybrid was used in a number of entomological studies related to the investigation of the impact of the European corn borer and various species of nematodes.
